Realestate.com.au is updating how rental property prices are displayed, starting with NSW. These changes are important for agents, as they impact how rental listings appear to prospective tenants. In this article, we'll explain what the updates mean, how they’ll be rolled out, and what actions you may need to take if you have any concerns.

Realestate.com.au is making a significant update that impacts how rental property prices are displayed, starting with NSW. These changes are crucial for agents to understand, as this change affects how you list your rental properties and provide transparency to prospective tenants. In this article, we’ll walk you through what these changes mean, how they’ll be rolled out, and what steps you need to take if you have any concerns.

New Price Display Rules for Rental Listings

Realestate.com.au has introduced a change that affects how the price of rental properties will appear on the platform. From now on, agents will no longer be able to hide or customise the rental price. The rental price will always be displayed clearly on all listings, with NSW being the first to experience these changes. This new policy will roll out across other Australian states in the near future.

Why the Change?

The move comes in response to increasing consumer demand for pricing transparency in the rental market. Realestate.com.au data shows that unclear or misleading rental prices have been a key frustration for renters, particularly in NSW. By addressing this issue, Realestate.com.au aims to ensure a more accurate and reliable search experience for renters, ultimately enhancing the quality of leads for agents.

The Key Updates You Need to Know

  1. Unified Price Field
Realestate.com.au is now using a single price field to power both the search and display prices for all rental listings. This means that the low price you enter in the ‘Rental’ tab of iDashboard will also be the price shown to the public on Realestate.com.au – no more customising or hiding the price.
  2. Obsolete Display Field
iDashboard’s ‘hide or customise the price’ fields will continue to function the same way for all other websites and portals.
  3. Scope of Change
The changes are initially being implemented in NSW as of 23rd October, with plans to expand this policy across Australia. Realestate.com.au has yet to release a timeline for other states.

What to Do if You Have Concerns
