Changes to Rental Price Visibility on Domain.com.au

Starting 3rd December, Domain will no longer show rental display prices or ranges set by agents. Instead, it will automatically show a fixed rental price based on your listing’s search price - aligning with changes already made by Realestate.com.au and aiming to discourage rental bidding.

Beginning Wednesday 3rd December, Domain will no longer accept custom display prices or price ranges for residential rental listings. Instead, they will only show a fixed price based on the search price you provide in your listing.

What’s Changing?

  • Custom display price fields will be ignored: If you enter a custom price (e.g. $850 per week), Domain will no longer show this on your live listing.
  • Price ranges will also be ignored: If you enter a price range (e.g. $800–$900 per week), Domain will display the higher value only – in this case, $900/week.

Why the Change?

Domain states that this update is designed to:

  • Provide clearer pricing for tenants
  • Prevent prohibited rental bidding
  • Ensure listings are aligned with state laws relating to price transparency

Like REA, Domain has made it clear they do not endorse or encourage rental bidding, and this change helps support that position.

What You Need to Do

You don’t need to change how you manage listings in iDashboard – but it’s important to set a clear fixed rental price (or be aware that the higher end of your range will be shown).

If you’re using rental price ranges in iDashboard, be mindful that Domain will always show the upper limit on their platform.

If you have questions about how this affects your listings on Domain, we encourage you to contact Domain directly.
